Sam Fanfan lead the Banner with 41 points in their first round victory over 508 Athletics. Jay Snow added 14 for the victors who go solid all around play from Eve St Cyr and Nikko Bryan. 508 was lead by Rookie Sensation Sam Wilsey with 20 points and Chris Sannicandro with 14. The Banner advances to the semis while 508 concludes their season.
Blazers (4) 63, Woolies (5) 48
Jay McKinney (13), Kyle Dean (12) and Anthony Rial (13) kept the Woolies close, but Joey Saster (19 points) gave the Blazers a huge boost after losing captain and leading scorer Rob Elliot to injury minutes into the game. Drew Smithson added 14 in the win for the Blazers as they advance to the semifinals where they will face The Gut. The Woolies conclude their season.
Webster's Finest (3) 55, Big State (6) 49
In a back and forth tilt, Webster's Finest made a few more plays down the stretch and took the W in the final game of the night. Berto DeJesus had 13 for the victors while Jamaal Carlson and Nick Blocksburg added 12 a piece. Jeff Lindgren had 19 for the losers with John Costello adding 12. Webster will face the Banner in a semi final while Big State concludes their year.
Player of The Week: Joey Saster Blazers. 19 huge points without their leading scorer, hit every big shot down the stretch to get them through to the next round.

The Gut apparently on a halloween sugar high did not miss much on it's way to a 6th victory on the year. Ryan Cain lead the way with 48 points (league record) and Dan Koen had 38 of his own in the victory. Jim Donnelly chipped in 15 with Rob Phillipo contributing 14 and Ryan Hopkins 13. For The Blazers Joey Saster had 20 and Nick Cutting had 17. The Blazers wrap up the 4 seed, while The Gut is the 1 seed and will have the bye.
Webster's Finest 78, 508 Athletics 70
Brian Whitten had 31 for 508 Athletics but it wasn't enough as Sean Carter (20) Jay Berry (14) and Berto Dejesus (10) lead the way for Webster's Finest. Jamaal Adkins was a beast on the boards and Akeem Adkins was all over the glass and making plays in the lane. Webster's Finest clinch the #3 seed while 508 Athletics will be the 7 seed.
Woolies 80, Big State 77
The Woolies paced by Jay McKinney (whose name we've been spelling wrong for years evidently) and his 38 points and Anthony Rial with 17 held on late to edge Big State. Jeff Lindgren had 25 for State while John Costello added 23 and Mitch Bajema had 17. The Woolies will be the 5 seed while Big State falls on tiebreakers to the 6 seed.
Player of the Week: Ryan Cain, The Gut. The man scored 48 points.

Brian Whitten had 22 for the 508 Athletics team and the game was a 11 point game at half time, but The Gut came out firing in the second half. Ryan Hopkins lead the way with 27 most of them in the second half and The Gut also got contributions from; Jim Donnelly with 17, Rob Phillipo with 24, and Dan Koen with 21. The Gut improves to 6-1 and will face The Blazers next week while 508 Athletics falls to 1-5 and will take on Webster's Finest in their finale on Sunday.
Woolies 69, Performance Nutrition 56
Jay McKenne (16), Brett Corey (16) and Duane Bennett (15) lead the way for the Woolies as they handled a scrappy bunch from Performance Nutrition. Dan Bessa lead the way for the Nutrition squad with 22 points while Justin McCann added 16. Performance will face The Banner Bar next week while the Woolies will finish their schedule with Big State in a game with huge playoff seeding implications.
Banner Bar 91, Big State 77
Sam Fanfan (44 points) lead three Banner Bar players in double figures as they cruised to victory over Big State 91-77. Jay Snow also tossed in 25 whie Nikko Bryan had 10. For Big State Cale Lacasse and Mitch Bajema had 21 each and John Costello added 16, Jeff Lindgren 15 in the loss. The Banner will conclude it's regular season with Performance Nutrition on Sunday while Big State will tangle with the Woolies.
Webster's Finest 50, Blazers 47
Free throws down the stretch saved the day for Webster's Finest as the Blazers would not go away in this low scoring contest. Sean Carter lead Webster with 15 while Raul Santiago had 13 in the victory. For The Blazers Rob Elliot had 14 with Drew Smithson and Jon Young added 10 and 9 respectively inside. Webster moves into 3rd place and will clinch the 3 seed with a win on sunday or a Big State loss. The Blazers own 4th place at the moment going into their finale against The Gut next week. Webster's Finest will face 508 Athletics.

The Webster winning train keeps on rolling. Sean Carter lead the way with 18 points, while Berto Dejesus tossed in 12, Jamaal Carlson and Raul Santiago added 10 in a game of runs that saw Webster make the first, last and longest. For the Woolies Jay McKenne had 14 and Brett Corey had 14 (mostly from long distance). Anthony Rial chipped in 13. The Woolies return to action next week against Performance Nutrition in a game with huge seeding implications. While Webster will try to keep it rolling against The Blazers.
The Gut 73, Banner Bar 54
In a sloppy affair that was closer than the final score indicated The Gut pulled the victory in a matchup of two of the league's elite. Ryan Cain had 24 points and Jim Donnelly added 19 as the Gut used sustained runs and long distance shooting to open up the game. Dan Koen added 17 in the victory. For the Banner Jay Snow's hot shooting outside (14 points) and KJ Minor inside (17) kept it close will Sam Fanfan added 11. The Banner will return to action against Big State next week while The Gut will face 508 Athletics.

Sam Wilsey continued his stellar debut for 508 Athletics dropping in 25 points, but Big State had a little too much to handle. Ray Culver had 22 while John Costello had 15, Cale Lacasse 14 and Mitch Bajema 10 in a balanced attack. For 508 Chris Ratcliffe added 14 and Chris Sannidcandro had 11. Big State will face The Banner next week, while 508 Athletics will take on The Gut
Blazers 77, Performance Nutrition 51
Joey Saster dialed long distance early and often as The Blazers cruised in the night cap. Saster had 30 (24 from beyond the stripe). The Blazers also got contributions from Rob Elliot (16) and Mike Howe (12). Performance got jump started by Matt Bessa (18 points) and Justin McCann (17) while Andrew Calzone tossed in 11. Performance will face the Woolies next week, while The Blazers will take on Webster's Finest

The Woolies hung in behind hot shooting from Jay McKenne (20 points) and the inside out game of Anthony Rial (18 points) but there was too much Banner Bar to overcome. Sam Fanfan had 36 in the victory, the inside component to the inside-outside threat was KJ Minor who added 11 in the paint. Newcomer Nikko Bryan chipped in 8 and some solid floor play. While Jeremy Bridge coached them to victory thanks to a horribly sprained ankle that I never want to see agin. The Banner improves to 4-0. The Woolies are 1-3.
The Gut 75, Big State 64
The Gut ground out a contested victory against Big State. Jim Donnelly had 17 for the Gut while Dan Koen paced them with 25. Rob Phillipo also added 19 as they pulled away with timely baskets. Cale LaCasse paced Big State with 20, most from downtown, while Jeff Lindgren added 19 in defeat. The Gut improves to 3-1 while Big State moved to 1-2 and still had to play the back end of their twin bill.
Big State 71, Performance Nutrition 66
A weary Big State team run into the immovable object in Rob Scarpato from Performance Nutrition who had 45 points (a league record). Playing with 5 guards the entire game Big State had to cash in from outside and luckily had Mitch Bajema in the house. Bajema tossed in 30 points including 7 three pointers, while Jeff Lindgren added 13, Eric Harriet added 10 and Anthony Leonelli had 7. Big State moves to 2-2, while Performance's record was 1-2 pending their nightcap.
Webster's Finest 91, Performance Nutrition 62
Don't look now but Webster's Finest is playing the best ball in the league. Once again playing unselfishly, hitting the glass and forcing turnovers they ran to a 91 to 62 victory over Performance Nutrition. Berto DeJesus paced the way for Webster with 26 points while Jamaal Adkins added 16 and Jamaal Carlson also added 16. Reinforcements showed up for Performance in the person of Dan Main who had 24. Rob Scarpato in the midst of his 80 minute night added 19 in the night cap. Webster's Finest equals their record at 2-2 while Performance sits at 1-3
508 Athletics 67, Blazers 60
A hard fought nightcap to a great night of basketball. Joey Saster came out gunning early for The Blazers (12 points) and Rob Elliot had his customarily solid game of 19 points, but 508 got in the win column behind newcomers Sam Wilsey (30 points), and Alex Curry (15 points). 508 moves their record 1-3 while The Blazers fall to 2-2.
Player(s) of the week: With a full slate of game it would be impossible to narrow down the player of the week race so here we go:
Rob Scarpato, Performance Nutriton. battled in 2 games (albeit losses) and averaged 32 points in the 2 games including a league record 45 in the opener.
Sam FanFan, The Banner. Had 36 in an up and down game running their record to 4-0.

Webster's Finest played a tough defensive game and made shots when they had to to knock off the previously undefeated Gut squad. Jamaal Adkins tossed in a put back with 1 second to go to give them a 2 point lead erasing the heroics of Ryan Hopkins who had hit a huge three to tie the game for The Gut seconds earlier. Raul Santiago had 10 for Webster's Finest as did Nick Blocksberg. They were also aided on both ends of the floor by Akeem Adkins and Alberto Dejesus. The Gut got 14 from Ryan Cain and 14 from Dan Koen.

After a slow start 508 cut the lead to as few as 7 in the second half but Banner had built too strong a lead and hung on for the win. Jay Snow lead the way for the Banner with 22 points and Jeremy Bridge added 15. For 508 Chris Ratcliffe had 14 and Brian Whitten 16 in the defeat.

Rob Elliot had 20 for the Blazers as they held off a late surge by the Woolies. John Young added 10 as did TJ Dolliver in the win. For the Woolies they were paced by Jay McKenne with 23 and newcomer Anthony Rial with 18. The Woolies used a 12-2 run in the early moments of the second half to get them back into the game.

Western Conference basketball at it's finest. Not a lot of D going on as The Gut rolls to a 31 point victory. Ryan Caine lead the way for The Gut with 31 points, while Jim Donnelly added 25 and Dan Koen had 15. Performance Nutrition was paced by Victor Holder with 20 and Rob Scarpato with 19. The Gut will face Big State next week. While Performance Nutrition will return to action against Webster's Finest.
Woolies 68, 508 Athletics 50
Jay McKenne had 17, while Brett Corey and Kyle Dean added 16 each in The Woolies first victory of the year. Doug Taylor (8 points) gave the 508 Athletics team an early lift while Billy Monaco (18) and Bri Whitten (12) also chipped in some offense. 508 will return to action next week against The Banner Bar while The Woolies will take on The Blazers
Big State 52, Webster's Finest 44
Not a lot of offense going on early as it was a back and forth contest in the 8 PM game. Akeem Atkins (7 points) and Jayson Berry (10 points) did their part for Webster's Finest who utilized a swarming zone to slow down Big State. Jeff Lindgren (23 points) and Mitch Bajema (14) lead the way for Big State who benefited from 2 huge threes by Cale Lacasse (6 points) down the stretch. Big State will face The Gut on Sunday, while Webster's Finest will tangle with Performance Nutrition.

Jay Snow added 17 for the victors The Blazers were paced by Mike Howe with 1o and Rob Elliot with 13 as they fall to 1-1 on the year. The Banner will face 508 Athletics next week while the Blazers will face the Woolies.

Banner Bar got off to 1-0 start behind the scoring of Jay Snow (23 points) and Sam Fanfan (22 points). They were paced on the boards by Eve St Cyr and John Dietel. Webster's Finest made their league debut and were lead by Raul Santiagao with 10 points and Jamaal Adkins with 7. They will return to action next week against Big State while the Banner will face The Blazers.

Scoring was at a premium in the second game of the day as the Gut put on a pretty serious shooting display. Dan Koen lead the way with 35 points (mostly from beyond the arc) and Jim Donnelly added 21 and Ben Bickford 20. The Woolies put up 65 points, usually good for a win but not against the offensive juggernaut that was The Gut. Jay McKenne had 19 for the Woolies while Brett Corey chipped in 17 and Kyle Dean 14. The Woolies will face 508 Athletics while The Gut will take on Performance Nutrition.
Performance Nutrition 82, 508 Athletics 57,
Performance Nutrition opened up a half time lead and never looked back as Rob Scarpato (22) inside and Victor (19) outside lead the charge for the Nutrition club. Dan Bessa tossed in a quiet 16 for them as well. 508 Athletics was lead by Josh Dutton making his 508 Athletics Basketball return with 27 points and Brian Whitten tossing in 14 from the perimeter. Performance Nutrition will tangle with The Gut next week, while 508 Athletics will face The Woolies.
Blazers 65, Big State 59
The game of the night. In what would be a 1 possession game down the stretch Rob Elliot firmly affixed the saddle to his back and carried The Blazers with his 38 points. Mike Howe added 9a nd Joey Saster 7 but the story was Elliot who got them points whenever they needed them down the stretch. Jeff Lindgren lead Big State with 22 while the Whitinsville Christian Alumni Association of Mitch Bajema and Jason Barnett had 13 and 10 respectively. Big State will face Webster's Finest next week while the Blazers will face the Banner Bar.
