Birdmen 83, Up-A-Ton 43
Behind the scoring of Nefali Gonzalez (26 points) and Sam Fanfan (19 points) The Birdmen conclude their season at 5-2 and lock up the 3 seed for the postseason. Up-A-Ton was paced by Jason Gosselin with 17 points and Tom Casey with 11. Up-A-Ton lost a 3way coin toss for the spot but their 1-6 made them the 7 seed over 508 Athletics who sported identical 1-6 records due to their head to head win.
The Gut 124, 508 Athletics 68
Apparently dissapointed by the lack of halloween opportunities due to the weather, The Gut showed up dressed as the 1988 Loyola Marymount team. The 124 point outburst was lead by Dan Koen with 40, Ryan Cain added 26 in the win, while Jim Donnelly chipped in 22 of his own. Dan Schweitzer also added 19 for the victors. 508 Athletics got 36 points from Lloyd Kennedy and 14 from Justin McCann in the victory. The Gut locks up the 4 seed at 5-2 while 508 will be the 8 seed at 1-6.
Horsemen 62, Douglas Waterslides 56
A tough matchup between 2 depleted teams. The Horsemen playing with only 5 edged Douglas Waterslides in the 8 PM game. Ben Macauliffe lead the way for The Horsemen with 23 while Mac Roy added 18 mostly from the perimeter. Shane Truddell also chipped in 12. The 'Slides were paced by Mike Balderelli with 24 and Jstin Aldrich with 18. At 3-4 the Slides will take on The Gut next week in playoff action. Meanwhile The Horsemen lock up the #1 seed and will tangle with 508 Athletics.
Worcester West 68, Blazers 54
Balance balance balance is how Worcester West gets it done. Mike Dzciek lead the way with 18 points mostly from beyond the arc in the 9 PM victory. Jim Quiniliven added 12 as did Mike Consolmango, while Dave Douliette had 10. The Blazers were lead by Danny Suarez a mysterious character who is not playoff eligible but would be a nice addition for them in future sessions. He had 30. The Blazers will face the Birdmen in the 3-6 game, while Worcester West is the 2 seed and will face Up-A-Ton.
Player of The Week: Dan Koen, The Gut. A 40 point game and a win will almost always get you player of the week.

Horsemen 69, Worcester West 63
Using their usual balanced attack The Horsemen undid a 5 point halftime deficit and staked their claim to first place in the BVBL-Fall with a 6 point win. Paul Palowski (24 points) lead the way with assistance from Ben McAuliffe (20 points) and Shane Trudell (19 points). Worcester West was paced by Dave Douliette with 28 points and sharpshooting Jim Quiniliven with 13. Many would say the energy of Steve Colorio swung the game in the Horsemen's favor. He was all over the floor in the early second half generating hustle plays left and right. The Horsemen will conclude their schedule with the Douglas Waterslides next week, while Worcester West will take on The Blazers.
The Gut 99, Up-A-Ton 60
Up-A-Ton lead by Colin Carr (25 points) kept it close early but the depth of The Gut and their outside shooting was too much to overcome. Dan Koen (26 points), Ryan Cain (24 points) and Junior De La Hoz (14 points) lead the way for The Gut in the victory- while Up-A-Ton got 18 points from Rob Scarpato and 13 from Tom Casey. Up-A-Ton will conclude their schedule next week with The Birdmen, while The Gut will tangle with 508 Athletics.
Birdmen 72, 508 Athletics 60
Nefali Gonzalez (22 points) and Jay Snow (21 points) were the leaders of the pack for The Birdmen as they won the 8 PM game. They withstood a 27 point barrage from High School Senior Corey Gomes. Lloyd Kennedy and Justin McCann each added 14 in the loss for 508- while Niko Bryant added 16 for The Birds. Birdmen will conclude their season next week with Up-A-Ton while 508 Athletics will face the red hot Gut.
Douglas Waterslides 66, Blazers 59
Former college teammates and all around pals Mike Balderelli (17 points) and Mitch Bajema (15 points) lead the way for The 'Slides in a past their bed time start. Keenan Burke-Pitts contributed solid floor play and Brian Collins and Kyle Dean chipped in some hard nosed D. Jay McKinney had 25 points for the Blazers mostly from downtown. Rob Anthony chipped in 14 in the loss. They will conclude their season with Worcester West while The Slides will take on the Horsemen.
Player of the Week: Paul Palowski Horsemen. 24 points in the victory many at critical junctures nets him POTW.

Worcester West 61, 508 Athletics 46
Balance balance balance was the order of the day for Worcester West as they ran their record to 5-0. Worcester West started the game on a borderline absurd 26-0 run, however 508 Athletics should be credited as they cut it to 8 at one point in the second half. Jim Quiniliven had 12 in the victory while Joe Laroche added 11 and Mike Consolmango 10. 508 Athletics was lead by Lloyd Kennedy with 13- Justin McCann and Corey Gomes added 10 in the defeat. 508 Athletics (1-4) will play The Birdmen next week while Worcester West will tangle with The Horsemen.
Horsemen 61, Birdmen 51
The time honored battle between Horses and Birds continued in the 7 PM game. Sam Fanfan (16 points) lead the Birdmen to a 9 point halftime lead, however the Horsemen would not go away drawing even with 12 minutes and forging forward to a hard earned victory. Paul Palowski lead the way for The Horsmen with 17 points, Shane Truddell chipped in 15 while Ben McAuliffe also added 15. The Birdmen were given additional offensive punch by Nefali Gonzalez with 11 points. The Birdmen will face 508 Athletics next week while The Horsemen will play Worcester West
Douglas Waterslides 66, Up-A-Ton 51
Despite the best efforts of Rob Scarpato (25 points) the outside shooting of The Douglas Waterslides held off the scrappy Up-A-Ton bunch in the 8 PM game. Justin Aldrich paced the 'slides with 20 and Mike Balderelli added 19 in the victory- with Keenan Burke-Pitts adding 10. Tom Casey added 9 in the defeat for Up-A-Ton who will regroup and play The Gut next week. Douglas will play The Blazers in a game with huge playoff implications.
The Gut 77, Blazers 64
Rob Elliot (19 points) and The Blazers hung tough also getting 15 from Mike Howe. However The Gut made shots in bunches and prevailed in the late game. Ryan Cain had 35 points in the win- while Captain Jim Donnelly added 19. The Blazers (1-4) will take on The Douglas Waterslides next week while The Gut will see Up-A-Ton

Horsemen 78, Birdmen 50
The Horsemen used their 3 headed monster of Paul Palowski (16 points), Ben McAuliffie (22 points) and Mac Roy (22 points) to pull out a victory in the early game. Up-A-Ton mounted a few runs in the second half behind the broad shoulders of Rob Scarpato (26 points) and Tom Casey (12 points). The Horsemen run their record to 3-1 and will tangle with The Birdmen next week, while Up-A-Ton (1-3) will face The Douglas Waterslides.
Birdmen 83, Douglas Waterslides 62
The Birdmen scored early and often on their way to their 3rd win. Sam Fanfan scored 29 for the victors while Nefali Gonzalez added 23 points. Jeremy Bridge chipped in 15 in a game that was a comfortable gap throughout. Andrew Calzone had 17 points for the 'slides in the loss. Most impressive though was Mitch Bajema who scored 26 points (all in the second half) the former Assumption standout used a mix of deep threes, post ups and mid range floater action to fuel his offensive outburst. The Birdmen (3-1) will face the Horsemen next week while Douglas Waterslides will take on Up-A-Ton
508 Athletics 71, Blazers 64
508 Athletics posted their first victory of the season over The Blazers in the night cap. Lloyd Kennedy was the story with 29 points while Dan Bessa added 16 and Corey Gomes 15 in the victory, Justin McCann (10) rounded out the double figure scoring for the 508 squad. The Blazers were paced by Rob Elliot with 24 points and Ron Anthony with 12. Both teams are now 1-3, 508 will face Worcester West next week, while The Blazers will take on The Gut.
Player Of The Week Lloyd Kennedy 508 Athletics 29 points in his team's first victory a solid mix of inside/outside scoring on his way to 29.

Worcester West 48, Up-A-Ton 45 (OT)
The first game was a defensive battle turned an overtime thriller. Up-A-Ton gave the first place Worcester West squad everything they could handle in an OT showdown. Up-A-Ton was lead by Rob "Immovable Object" Scarpato with 27 points- Colin Carr added 12 in the defeat. Worcester West was paced by Joe Laroche's 15 points and Dave Douilette with 12 points. Up-A-Ton locked up Worcester West holding them to only 16 points in the first half, however they were ultimately done in by timely turnovers and a less than 50% free throw percentage. Up-A-Ton (1-2) will face The Horsemen next week while Worcester West (3-0) will tangle with The Gut.
The Gut 83, Horseman 73
Ryan Cain (37 points) and Dan Koen (24 points) were hot out of the gate and paced The Gut to their 2nd straight win and handed The Horsemen their first defeat. The Horsemen were lead in defeat by Shane Trudell (much to the delight of the expansive crowd) with 19 points and Ben McAuliffe with 17 points. The Horseman mounted a number of runs but The Gut had too much firepower in transition and form beyond the arc. The Gut (2-1) will take on Worcester West next week while The Horsemen (2-1) will play Up-A-Ton.
Douglas Waterslide 69, 508 Athletics 61
Despite 21 points from Lloyd Kennedy, 15 from Justin McCann and some hot outside shooting by Jim Kahler- The Douglas Waterslides held on for their first victory 69-61. Justin Aldrich had 12 in the victory- Chris Foley (yes that Chris Foley) had 10 in a fill in role and new acquisition Brian Collins played some solid D. However the real story was Mike Balderlli and his 39 points. 508 had no answer for him inside or out. Douglas will take on The Birdmen next week- 508 will meet the Blazers.
Birdmen 74, Blazers 66
Sam Fanfan's 31 points lead the Birdmen to victory in the nightcap. Jay Snow chipped in 11 in the victory as well as the Birdmen were able to open up a halftime lead with an 11-2 run to start the second half. The Blazers were paced by captain Rob Elliot with 20 points and Jay McKinney with 13 the Blazers (1-2) will return to action next week against 508 Athletics, while The Birdmen (2-1) will play the Douglas Waterslides.
Player of the week: Mike Balderelli, Douglas Waterslides. 39 points to lead his team to thier first victory of the year.

Horesman 55, 508 Athletics 40
The Horseman used a 35-20 second half to pull away from the pesky 508 Athletics club and post their second win of the young campaign. The Horsemen were paced early by the hot shooting of Mac Roy (12 points) and Ben McAuliffe (15 points) and were further aided by the inside play of Paul Palowski (12 points)- they advance to 2-0 on the season and will face off with The Gut next week. 508 was paced by Dan Bessa (17 points) and solid floor play of Brian Whitten. 508 is now 0-2 and will face The Douglas Waterslides next week.
Worcester West 63, Birdmen 58
Worcester West used hot early shooting to open up a gap and used rebounding and defensive to keep the margin in the second half. Jim Quiniliven had 14 points, but about 12 of them were in the first 5 minutes of the game getting Worcester West off to a hot start. Joe LaRoche lead the way for WW with 16, while Dave Douillette (correct spelling) added 14 in the victory. The Birdmen were lead by Jay Snow with 11, Sam Fanfan with 13 and Dominique Bryant with 11. They run their record to 1-1 and will face the Blazers next week, while Worcester West improves to 2-0 and will face off with Up-A-Ton.
The Gut 97, Douglas Waterslides 80
In a defensive battle The Gut outlasted The Douglas Waterslides 97-80. Ryan Cain made his fall season debut with 35 points in the victory for The Gut, while Dan Koen had 20 of his own. New addition Junior De La Hoz chipped in 16 in his first game with the ball club. As good as Cain was Mitch Bajema (32 points) was equally impressive from beyond the arc in defeat. Keenan Burke-Pitts tossed in 15 of his own while Mike Balderelli had 14. The Gut will face off with the Horsemen next week, while The 'Slides will face 508 Athletics in a battle of winless clubs.
Blazers 82, Up-A-Ton 57
One week after shooting the lights out Up-A-Ton experienced life on the other side of that equation. Jay McKinney (28 points) and Rob Elliot (26 points) did almost all of their damage from beyond the arc in transition as the Blazers cruised to their first victory of the young season. Up-A-Ton got a lot of offense from Colin Carr (25 points) on slashing takes and outside shots, and 15 from Tom "Jimmer" Casey who continues to be effective from downtown. Rob Scarpato added 10 for Up-A-Ton in his season debut. They will return to action next week against Worcester West, while The Blazers will face the Birdmen.
Player Of The Week: Ryan Cain, The Gut. 35 points in the squad's first win of the season.

Birdmen 80, The Gut 67
The Birdmen and The Gut faced off in an old fashioned ironman 5 on 5 game with no subs. Dan Koen got The Gut off to a solid start scoring their first 11 points on his way to 25 points. However The Birdmen were paced by rookie Nefali Gonzalez with 32 points and opened up a gap in the second half that could not be closed. Dominique Bryant added 22, while Sam Fanfan chipped in 14. For The Gut Tom McGovern added 14 and Jim Donnelly 15 in the defeat. The Gut will face the Douglas Waterslides next week, while The Birdmen will face Worcester West.
Up-A-Ton 65, 508 Athletics 55
Up-A-Ton won it's inaugural game in the BVBL in a nip and tuck affair with 508 Athletics. 508 was paced early by Paul King attacking the rim and hitting mid range shots on his way to 13 points. In the second Lloyd Kennedy contributed 14 and Corey Gomes 10 in the defeat. Up-A-Ton was lead early by Bob Chalmers on his way to 13. Tom Casey and Colin Carr shouldered the load in the second half scoring 17 and 16 respectively for the game. Carr will a mix of slashing drives and long range jumpers and Casey firing away from Jimmer Fredette range. 508 will tangle with The Horsemen next week- while Up-A-Ton will play The Blazers.
Worcester West 79, Douglas Waterslides 58
One of the vanuted franchises of the BVBL Summer League made it's fall debut and did some emphatically with a 79-58 victory. Joe Larcohe had 21 points in the victory and was aided by Dave "Acting Captain' Doulette with 19. Jim Quinilivan added 18 in the victory. Mike Balderelli lead the way the 'slides who had 4 players in double figures. Balderelli tossed in 15, Justin Aldrich had 19, Mitch Bajema added 12 while Keenan Burke-Pitts scored 11. Douglas returns to action against The Gut next week while Worcester West will face The Birdmen.
Horsemen 68, Blazers 47
In a game that was 28-27 at the half- The Horsemen used a 40 to 20 second half outburst to cruise to a 68-47 victory. Ben McAuliffe paced the Horseman with 30 points in the victory, while Shane Truddell added 16 and Mac Roy 13. The Blazers were paced by Ron Anthony with 14. The Blazers will face Up-A-Ton next week in a matchup of sweet shirts- while The Horsemen will face 508 Athletics.
Player of the week: Ben McAuliffe Horsemen, scored 30 and at critical junctures to lead his team to a victory in their first game in the league.
